Rainbow Gardening

Can you grow food and have a beautiful garden? Yes! Many food crops need pollinators, yet the flowers on the crops themselves are often not enough to support the pollinators. By designing your garden to contain both food and year-round color, you ensure not only beauty, but a continuous supply of pollen for the pollinators on which much of our food depends. You can even incorporate both flowers and color in winter with one native plant.

I will be teaching a free class through Meetup about Growing Food and Year-Round Color on May 6 at the Arvada Community Garden - check it out here!https://www.meetup.com/xeriscape-havens-meetup-group/

This event is at 6:00p.m. outside at the garden. FREE and open to the public.
(inclement weather: Vance Street Flats, 5854 Vance St, 6:15pm)
Come early or stay afterwards to visit the seed library and/or get a tour of the garden. Garden opens at 5pm.

You can also check out my website for more: AmyCarynJohnson.com. I am offering services geared more toward harmonizing our environs, mostly outdoors but also indoors. But I am also pursuing a masters degree at the moment, so I will not have a lot of availability yet.

Photo by Erda Estremera on Unsplash Are you desertifying? Or are you cooling your corner of our planet? I have written more about gardening lately, but today I will connect gardening and astrology. I doubt any of you will need me to tell you, it has been HOT. Records broken all over the place. Fires and smoke all over the place. Many of my friends have gotten electric vehicles, and I understand why, even though I have a different perspective. This month of August 2026, will likely not be...

Most people who have heard of xeriscaping pronounce it like "zero-scaping." And they essentially mean and believe that it calls for the removal of most plants. They see that we are in a severe drought here in Colorado and they think, screw it, I'm ripping out our grass and putting in rock. Then they look into it a bit more...

Happy Year of the Fire Horse! Happy New Year! It has been a while since I have written and not made a video. I have many updates to share with you, but first I'd like to reflect on some of the changes we are all experiencing recently and in the new year. You don't need me to tell you that AI is now everywhere. This is to be expected as the north eclipse point of the moon, Rahu, entered Aquarius last year. The thing about Rahu is that it brings so much excitement wherever it goes that it can...
